Hi there all,
Pleased to inform all that the AROCA 6 hr 2008 has reached a full field of over 40 teams.
So the event is full and cannot accept any more entries.
Fantastic show of support from the car clubs, really stamps AROCA 6 hr as the best grass roots club level motorsport event in the state. Also over 20 business are supporting the event, list will be published shortly, they will contribute to helping the officials and volunteers of the event.
Looking forward to a fabulous weekend of club motorsport fun and competition.

Rules Changes for 2008

There are two significant rule changes this year.Firstly, the scoring system has changed to move toward even weighting for factor 1 (goal laps / laps completed + bonus laps) and factor 2 (lap time spread). In the past the formulae has made factor 2 several times more important in the results. We think this change will benefit teams who persistently & diligently complete laps.
The second change is to the penalty procedure. The two most common rule transgressions in previous years have been not obeying the blend line on pit exit and exceeding the speed limit in pit lane. Both of these are important safety issues. We will follow the lead of the professional series and automatically allocate penalties without summonsing the driver to the clerk of course office. Please read the penalty section it’s intended to make running of the event more transparent and run more smoothly, it is not intended to be difficult.
Information Night 4th September 2008

There will be an information night on Thursday 4th. September 2008 at 7.30pm at the Bell’s Hotel at corner of Coventry and Moray Streets, South Melbourne where Officials and Organisers will be on hand to answer questions about eligibility, scrutineering, penalties, use of flags, and any other aspects of the EventAn alternate briefing will be arranged individually for interstate teams.

Accommodation in Benalla is filling fast for the weekend of the AROCA 6 hour. Many teams booked as they left last year and a square dancing competition in Benalla means motel rooms are scarce. There are a number of smaller towns near Winton with accommodation (mainly cabins & caravan parks) or Wangaratta where there is a wide range of Motels, hotels and other accommodation.
A list of accommodation in all towns surrounding Winton can be downloaded from the website.
